Aoise O’Dwyer is a professional violist from Tullamore, Co. Offaly. She has performed extensively with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra and Irish National Opera, as well as a variety of chamber music ensembles. She holds a BMus in Performance from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and an MA in Performance from MTU Cork School of Music.

Aoise is passionate about new music and in 2021 she was commissioned, alongside bassist and music creator Camilo Gaete Puga, to create a new work for SLEEPERTOWN, an international sonic art programme. Their piece “Trees are Sanctuaries” was premiered in that year and was subsequently featured as part of the 2023 installation in Lazio, Italy. Aoise also participated in the Contemporary Music Centre Colleagues programme in 2022, in partnership with composer Adele O’Dwyer, culminating in the premier of a new work, “Three Worlds” for viola and piano, in September 2022.

In September 2023, Aoise was selected for the Arts Council Agility Award in support of her research into works for solo viola by women composers. She looks forward to presenting a recital of selected works in October 2024, with the support of Offaly County Council Arts Office.
